Oklahoma State University Medical Center

The OSU Department of Emergency Medicine provides care to approximately 48,000 patients annually at the OSU Medical Center - a Level 3 Trauma Center in Tulsa, OK. The Department of Emergency Medicine has one of the largest clinical faculty within the university, comprised of 20 board-certified emergency medicine physicians and one board-certified clinical pharmacist. The OSU Emergency Medicine Residency is an ACGME-accredited program established in 1991. This is a 48-month program with a built-in master's degree. Residents have a requirement to complete coursework towards a master's degree in public health, healthcare administration or global health. The entire degree can be completed over the four year program. This benefit is provided to emergency medicine residents at no charge.

Residents have the opportunity to rotate with many different specialties and to care for a diverse patient population with an incredible spectrum of pathology. Our clinical experiences produce compassionate, well-prepared residency graduates. The educational experience includes the following didactic features: morbidity and mortality conferences, grand rounds and specialty specific conferences. Site support includes free dining for house staff, and a robust medical library. Other program features include opportunities to provide on-site emergency medicine care at all OSU home football games.
